Reminder: Donald Trump transferred an apartment to Eric Trump significantly under market — exactly the sort of tax fraud the New York Times revealed in their deep dive into Trump family fraud totaling over $400,000,000. Enough bullshit, Trump must release his taxes.

  1. **Don’t:** be a dick, be a bigot, brigade, troll or advocate violence. It’ll get you banned.
See the sidebar for the full version of the rules.

**Do:** report rule-breaking comments to the special investigators.

  2. It is no secret that the rich cheat to protect their wealth. Why doesn’t the FBI go after more of these sorts of crimes. Is it because those people can afford to defend themselves from criminal prosecution. It’s almost as if having boat loads of money protects you from legal repercussions in this country and not having any money is a crime in itself.

  3. Hope someone can explain to me.

I’m not following the tax fraud articles on Trump because I’m still on Kavanaugh and Iran and mid terms.

I can only get but so enraged and engaged.

So, anyone that is following this closely, can you tell me if this is legit fraud or did Trump family simply use loopholes?

Legit fraud and IRS violations, he should go down.

If it’s gray area /loopholes, well, it is what it is. Rich will always find ways to stay rich by skirting with laws.

    Thanks for thoughts on this.

  4. I don’t get why we have to demand that he release his taxes. Shouldn’t the IRS be responsible for this? Can’t they just go ahead and audit him and then make public anything illegal? Isn’t that what they’re there for?!

  5. Lolol. He needs to do much more than just release his taxes. **HE NEEDS TO PAY THEM, TOO!** I hope Governor Cuomo actually follows through on his comment the other day regarding NYS/NYC going after Trump for the dues he owes the state and city.

  6. And before people think this is a victimless crime or this devolves in to people who hate the government for taxing people some of the issues were buying things at a higher value than their worth. Trump had partners and banks lending him money. The trumps were defrauding them by having Trump show higher profits than his businesses were actually generating.

  7. This is why you vet your candidates and get their taxes out in the open. Which the conservatives refused to do. Which is weird, because it’s always been so goddamn important to them when it’s a Democrat.

  8. I never felt as resentful filing my taxes as I did in 2016. I mean, we all have to pay our fair share, right? Unless you’re a rich, ruthless politician I guess.

  9. Anyone with a shred of critical thinking skills knew this well before he was sworn in. His fan base will continue to self-own and applaud him for pulling one over on “the man” and teach their children about dinosaurs on Noah’s ark and use contaminated water to make their Kool-aid.

  10. So just so that I have this right

“Trump started with a small loan of $1M and through hard work he grew it to $10Billion dollars”

    1. Forbes calculate that he actually has only $2 – $3B now.

    2. He was actually given closer to $3.95B

    3. He regularly booked contractors, got them to do the work and then didn’t pay them or payed them a quarter of the agreed price

    4. He commited significant Tax fraud

    5. His father and Trump committed money laundering by buying millions of Donald’s casino chips and then not gambling them, thus propping the business up

    6. He had a charity that received millions into, but appears to have only ever given $10k from but used it to pay his lawyers or buy assets

    7. He just money laundered for the Russian oligarchs after no one else would lend money to him.

“I started with a large loan of $3.95B and through tax evasion, charity fraud, Russian bribes I turned it into $2B – $3B”

    What a winner..

  11. I didn’t nor would I vote for Trump, but I have a question:

When my dad sold me a functional car for $10 was that tax fraud? Like an actual crime? Serious question.

  12. Don’t get me wrong, I’m a reasonable person. My dad sold me my first car (his old car) significantly under market value. I then turned around and sold it for a profit. Apparently this makes me a horrible person

  13. Great reporting. Its an example on how the rich use loopholes to exploit paying taxes. I’m not surprised I’m sure if there is an examination in how often this happens it would be billions of extra dollars to New York state in tax revenue..

What needs to happen is more affordable housing Specifically in New York city. Making a law for Real estate developments to make affordable housing for the Working poor in the City & the senior citizens on a limited income including the disabled as well. By giving good tax breaks they will build. Hopefully more affordable homes can be built for the poor.
