Immediately after Manafort was sentenced, his lawyer made a very odd public statement — “There is absolutely no evidence that Paul Manafort was involved with any collusion with any government official from Russia” — we all see what Manafort’s lawyer did, right?

  2. Manafort literally shared internal campaign polling data with Russian intelligence. He conspired with Russia, period. The only relevant question now is “what Trump knew and when?”

  3. > There is absolutely no evidence that Paul Manafort was involved with any collusion with any government official from Russia

Manafort’s lawyer’s denial is limited to Manafort conspiring with a “government official” who is also “from Russia.”

So, to rephrase Manafort’s own lawyer’s statement:

    1) Manafort may have conspired with a Russian who was not a “government official”

    2) Manafort may have conspired with an official from a country other than Russia

Of course Manafort’s lawyer chose his words carefully.
