  2. I do want impeachment to begin, but I’m also growing increasingly sympathetic to Pelosi’s strategy…

    1) I previously saw the main immediate tactical argument for impeachment as: it would add weight to the Congressional inquiries Trump is broadly stonewalling. But recent judicial decisions — in both Deutsche Bank and Mazars — in favor of Congressional oversight indicate impeachment might not be necessary with respect to Congress being able to proceed with investigations.

    2) If Congress does get information from Deutsche Bank and Mazars, then depending on what they find, they have completely new impeach-worthy evidence. And it seems we may have an indication (on whether Congress will indeed get the Deutsche Bank and Mazars info) by end of next week.

    3) I think it could be savvy for Pelosi to appear to resist impeachment, and let the evidence and obstruction build, and let the clamor for impeachment build. Pent up release is often more exhilarating.

    4) I don’t think the Republicans in the Senate will sustain impeachment, even if Trump walks out onto Senate Avenue and shoots a Senator — so there simply is no rush to get them to vote thusly.

So, assuming the Congressional investigations do actually move forward, and assuming such investigations generate new evidence, then I’m starting to think Pelosi’s strategy may indeed make sense.
